May 25, 2010 – 7:30 pm “Ice Cream Night” “SOLON'S RAILROAD CONNECTIONS”

Mike Kohl, from the Midwest Railway Preservation Society, will with historic pictures tell of the Erie,
Wheeling &
Lake Erie, Chagrin Falls and Southern Railroads, current rail connections serving Solon's
industry and
their combined impact on Solon's growth.
Following the program concoct ice cream
sundaes to your liking

June 24, 2010 “Trip” “BEDFORD HISTORICAL MUSEUM”

Let's see what our fellow Historical Societies do to promote their local history! Visit the museum, railroad station,
memorial park and church – all within a short walk. For the lunch bunch let's go to a local Bedford
dining room
before the museum visit.

July “Road Trip” “MIDWEST RAILWAY PRESERVATION SOCIETY ROUNDHOUSE”

Visit the old B & O Roundhouse where rail cars and locomotives are restored and where rail history
is kept
alive. Mike Kohl or associates (see May program) will conduct the tour with a possible short
ride on a
steam locomotive. Note-July date and time are pending as open house dates not known
at this printing.

August 22, 2010 – 2:00 – 5:00 pm “25TH ANNUAL ANTIQUE AND VINTAGE CAR SHOW”

View historic vehicles on our grounds, bring your vintage car to compete for the “People's Choice
Award”
presented for the shows favorite car. Museum is open to learn from our docents about
Solon's history and
view our extensive collection of Solon memorabilia. Entertainment, cooling
soda and memories of yesterdays
transportation will be aplenty for this relaxing summer
afternoons family fun.

September 28, 2010 – 7:30 pm “Cookie Night” “OHIO'S GENERALS GRANT AND SHERMAN”

Generals Grant and Sherman were native Ohioans and were the most prestigious union generals
in the war
between the states. John T. Hubbell, retired Kent State History Professor, will give us his
insight into their
lives and exploits.
You are invited to bring a plate of homemade cookies to share
following the program.

October 26, 2010 – 6:00 pm “POTLUCK SUPPER” 7:30 pm “BOTTLES, JARS & CROCKS”

Have an old glass bottle, jar, flask or stoneware crock? Adam Koch from the Ohio Bottle Club will
enlighten us using his extensive collecting knowledge. Bring one or two items to be evaluated as
to origin,
age, use and possible value. For supper bring table service a main dish and a salad or
dessert .  
Beverages will be provided.

December 5, 2010 – 2:00 – 5:00 pm “VICTORIAN CHRISTMAS OPEN HOUSE”

Visit our museum with it's holiday decorations, ask docents about Solon History while sipping
hot wassail. 
View collections, many from the Victorian era. Listen to seasonal musical
entertainment. The latch key is
out so please join us.

January 25, 2011 - 7:30 pm “Pie Night” “ELIOT NESS AND TORSO MURDERS”

Librarian and Historian Rebecca McFarland and Dr. James Badal, Author and Tri-C Professor will
inform us
about Cleveland's famous crime busting safety director Eliot Ness and under his watch,
the unsolved
Kingsbury Run torso murders. Both having captivated the city during the great depression.
Bring your favorite home baked pie to share following the program.

MUSEUM OPENINGS -  VIEW OUR EXTENSIVE COLLECTIONS

On the scheduled Tuesday  meeting  nights
the museum is staffed and open 1 hour   prior to time shown.

Research and learn about Solon, the 2nd
Sunday of each month 2:00 – 5:00 p.m.
Closed if Sunday is a national holiday.
Phone if opening is questionable.

In addition to the program times and above,
arrangements may be made for museum visits by contacting either of the individuals below.
Tours for local groups are most welcome.
